A ritual sacrifice. With Pie.
Hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving... or, for those in other parts of the world, a fantastic Thursday!
We had a bit of time this morning, so we headed over to Mercer Island to see about finding our Geocache for the day (I'm at Day 265 of my streak and Rackham is at around Day 180) and maybe a few more... we'd never gone caching over there so we had our choice of caches to go after. We found the first cache pretty quickly and I snapped a photo of the nearby air vents for the freeway (we were in a park located on top of the Mercer Island Lid... which is exactly what it sounds like: a lid over I-90). Very funky! These things are, btw, absolutely HUGE. I should have had Rackham go stand next to them for comparison).

It was amazing how few people were on the road... everything was freakishly empty. For those who know the area, this was heading East on I-90 right where it starts to exit for the intersection with I-405. At 10:30 in the morning. Freaky!

For Thanksgiving Dinner this year, we pooled resources with
tomte,
gidgiddoni,
taradaktyl and her family... meeting for dinner over at Taradaktyl's place this afternoon. Once again, we brined the turkey... it just turns out so well, I can't imagine doing it any other way!
Here's a shot of everything on the table:

And on my plate:

My family's tradition fruit salad, cranberry compote, raw sweet potato salad, mashed potatoes and gravy, turkey, cornbread stuffing, green bean casserole, black olives and then I had whole wheat rolls with vegan butter (since the homemade butter rolls everyone else had contained too much cow's milk).
The raw sweet potato salad that Taradaktyl made was incredible! Gonna try making that one sometime.
And, finally, dessert!

From left to right: Taradaktyl made an absolutely scrumptious raw apple pie with a nut crust. Yummy! I made a regular pumpkin pie (using goat milk) and Rackham and I made the Pumpkin Chiffon Pie (also using goat milk - I did the crust for that last one and he made the pie filling). Rackham made the Egg Nog Pie. And, finally, Tomte made the low-carb cheesecake!
Needless to say, we all ate entirely too much food, but it was all so good!
