Random Things
Snagged this one from

Lots of pillows or just one?
Um, lots. Like five... one of which is a body pillow! I've always liked lots of pillows (
rackham is the same way, so you can imagine how many pillows we have piled on the bed), but since the car accident, I've gotten in the habit of having them to prop myself while I sleep, so I really do use them.
What kind of books do you read?
Mostly SF&F (with a bit more of an emphasis on the SF portion) and Mystery/Suspense. Occasionally other genres sneak in, including non-fiction, but not often.
What are your neighbors like?
We have great neighbors! On one side is a couple who are right about our age... we've worked on coordinating some of the landscaping on our adjoining bits of yard and sometimes just stop by each others' places to chat. The neighbor on the other side is an empty-nester who has been having fun over the past few years experimenting with different landscaping ideas for her yard, so we've been comparing notes to get ideas for ours! Okay, yeah, so mostly we chat with our neighbors about yardwork.
What's the best lesson you've ever learned?
Oof. Off the top of my head, that you can accomplish nearly anything if you are willing to fully commit to it.
Tell 3 things you have in your point of view right now.
Spike statuette (it's sitting next to my monitor), my water bottle, my handheld GPS.
What's your current fandom/obsession/addiction?
Still Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Haven't found anything else to move on to, yet.
Do you prefer your junk food sweet, salty or savory?
Savory! Although salty is the next best thing.
What websites do you always visit when you go online?
Livejournal, Facebook, Woot
What was the last thing you bought?
Groceries.
What is your favorite flower?
Cut flower? Carnations (they just smell so green, fresh and peppery). Otherwise, I'd have to say hibiscus (to the point that I have a small (but growing!) hibiscus bush in my dining room).
What is the most difficult thing you have ever done?
First thing that comes to mind: Walking from the wreckage of our car to the ambulance, so I wouldn't have to wait another half hour for another ambulance to reach us. I have no idea how I managed to do it without passing out.
What was the last meal you ate?
My standard breakfast: Kashi Honey Sunshine cereal with soymilk, broiled tomato, broiled mushrooms, broiled onion, one slice of canadian bacon... and bananas with fresh blueberries, raspberries (they were on sale!) and 2 ounces of vanilla goat yogurt topped with freshly ground flax seed. I have some variation of that every morning.
Do you want to learn another language?
Yes. I'd love to relearn German... I can still follow it, if people talk slowly enough, but I absolutely can't speak it anymore.
Five things you want right now:
To have all my Christmas shopping done (getting close on that one), to lose those final 20 pounds (working on it!), to go for a nice brisk walk outside (not happening, it's only 44°F and pouring rain out there), to get my hair cut and colored (time to make an appointment, the purple is definitely fading) and some time to just sit and read, haven't done that in awhile.
Find the closest book currently sitting near you and flip to page 36. What is the first sentence of the second paragraph?
"It was... memorable, for sure." She turned to Rook and gave him the ready look.
What's something that someone said to you today that was amusing?
Um... I've talked to exactly one person (that would be
rackham) so far today. And I think he may have said something amusing, but I can't for the life of me remember.
What are you looking forward to?
Christmas!!
Do you prefer boxers/briefs/tighty whities on a guy?
Boxers.
What is your favorite electronic accessory?
My cellphone! Seriously, I don't know how I ever lived without it... not that I actually use it much for talking, it's almost entirely used to keep me connected with my email and to check my favorite websites when I'm not near my computer.
