fenchurch: (The Fen)
After having to drug myself with Tylenol PM in order to stay asleep last night (whenever my shoulders act up like that, I'll generally wake up every time I move in my sleep... not exactly conducive to getting much rest), I was pleasantly surprised to wake up feeling a bit stiff and only a slightly sore. And after walking around and getting things moving, even those problems faded (although I did still have to be just a bit extra careful with my shoulders through the day). I'm taking that as a sign that my shoulders really are ready for me to start swimming on a more regular basis. Sadly, I suspect it won't be anywhere as nice to do it in a pool.

Cut to spare my flist -- lots of hiking today, a bit more swimming and some good (and not so good) food )

Now I'm just hoping I won't be paying the price tomorrow for all the hiking we did today...

ETA: I forgot to mention the other place we stopped at today... we'd been seeing this bakery called Leonard's on the route we usually took to the freeway. It's the sort of place that's obviously been there for a long time, without much effort being made to keep the business sign up-to-date, not that it matters because it's also the sort of place that ALWAYS has a line out the door. We'd seen a few of their commercials on television advertising their malasadas... and we happened to be driving by, so we figured it was time to see what all the fuss was about. And oh... they were good! Light and fluffy blobs of doughnut, served piping hot. We got some originals (with just sugar), some cinnamon sugar and some of the daily special (pineapple custard filled). Out of the all them, I think the originals were my favorites, although they were all incredibly good. And they weren't lying in their ads about how quickly they disappear. We'd intended to have one each right away, and then the remaining two later... but it seemed like such a shame to let them cool down uneaten! We might stop back by for more before we fly to the Big Island. The really funny part is that we got back to the room this evening and I had an email from [livejournal.com profile] queenofattolia singing the praises of Leonard's malasadas and telling us we had to stop in if we got the chance!
