fenchurch: (Funky)
And I thought I was tired yesterday! I'm afraid this is going to be very short with just the barebones, because I'm exhausted and we have to be up early to help out with an event.

Today I discovered that even panels I didn't think I'd be interested in turn out to be a lot of fun! I stopped by a panel on Universal's monsters that had some fascinating stuff... and it had Forry Ackerman, who is definitely getting on in years and has a tendency to ramble... but at least his rambles are of interesting things. I actually got to spend quite a bit of time with him when he was a GOH at BYU's SF&F Symposium back in 1990, and he's always had the best stories.

The Animaniacs/Pinky & the Brain panel was PACKED. It was fun seeing the voice actors in person and Rob Paulsen, in particular, can drop in and out of character at the drop of a hat... and remembers huge batches of dialogue (both as Pinky and as Dr. Scratchensniff). Maurice LaMarche sounds almost exactly like the Brain, except without some of the resonating (for lack of a better term). And Jess Harnell was just a hoot... lots of fun stories to tell.

Kenneth Johnson managed to be interesting and fun, even though I hadn't planned on staying for his presentation, originally... since it was mostly about the old "Incredible Hulk" television series (which I remember watching as a kid, but was never really a fan of). By the end of it all, I was actually thinking it would be a neat DVD collection to buy. Also, he's apparently been pushing a "20 years later" sequel to the V mini-series and series... if nothing else, he's going to try to get it published as a book, even if he can't get a mini-series off the ground.

I think I may have to try writing about this stuff later, because I'm literally falling asleep at the keyboard and I'm worried I'm not making any sense. I hope everyone is having a great week! And I'll have to work on catching up on my flist on Sunday, because I really think that's going to be the soonest I'll have time to read through everything.
